Tim and Judy are organising a weekend over the 1st May Bank holiday next year to cycle up the Taff Way cycle track - http://www.tafftrail.org.uk - from Cardiff to Brecon & stay two nights at the YHA Brecon - which is about 3 miles from Brecon town, returning on the Monday back to Cardiff where we will have left our cars.

We would cycle up on the Saturday (about 50 miles), leaving reasonable early, spend Sunday in the Brecon area where there will be a number of options & return back down the Taff Way to Cardiff on the Monday. On the Sunday there will be a ride to Hay-on-Wye – approx 20 miles each way with the possibility of a loop up onto Hay Bluff and the Gospel Pass for the super fit!

Further details will follow but in the meantime we have checked availability at the Brecon YHA and although they already have a Ramblers Group of 10 booked in they do have beds available at the present time. 3 rooms are ‘on hold’ for us until the end of October – a double (2 persons) and two 4-bed rooms under the reference 11224.

Participants are asked to make their own bookings so if you are interested could you ring the Hostel on 0845 371 9506 & quote our reference and mention EXETER CTC to make your booking. Please also let me know (mailto:timandjudy1@btinternet.com) so I can keep track of our bookings and liaise with the Hostel on numbers.

The cost is £22.25 per person per night for the 4 bed room or £26.50 pppn for the 2 bed – breakfast is £4.95 and an evening meal can be booked on a group basis for about £9.25 each at the hostel – a veggie option should be available. The hostel has 53 beds, of which approx 15 are already taken, so please book in early for max choice. For those interested in a bed & breakfast option there are some b&b’s & camping/caravan facilities at Brecon, which is about 3 miles from the hostel.

Further information will follow later but in the meantime if there are any queries please contact me by email as above or on 01395 232 605.
