[edit] CTC Exeter
The Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC) in Devon organise a range of rides and activities in the Exeter Area. These are summarised below and in a single page Word document.
Cycling England awarded Exeter Cycling Demonstration Town status following a joint bid by Devon County Council and Exeter City Council. The Cycle Exeter project aims are to create a cycle friendly city by improving infrastructure and offering free cycle training to all Exeter residents. More information is available on Cycle Exeter's Web Site, and progress is regularly discussed at the Exeter Cycle Forum.

Sunday rides usually start at 10 am at a range of locations on the outskirts of Exeter. We ride about 10 miles to an 'elevenses' stop at a cafe. After a break for refreshments we then ride to a lunch stop, for which most riders carry a picnic lunch. The group usually returns to the start location by around 4pm, having covered a total distance of between 35 and 70 miles.
The leader is responsible for navigation and keeping the group together. Average speed is adjusted to suit the slowest rider, but is typically 10-15 mph. People are free to join and leave the group as they wish and some only ride to elevenses before going home.
Newcomers are welcome on all of our rides. If you have any questions beforehand please ring our secretary - Kirby James (Tel 07783 672 516) or email kirby.james@gmail.com
The rides listed as "Meet at Elevenses" are more informal rides where members make their own way to elevenses. On the other Sundays riders may also make their own way to elevenses if they wish.
Over half of our regular riders also take part in Audax events of 100 or 200 km length. Audaxes are organised rides in which participants have to complete a nominated route within set time limits – checks are made to ensure that they complete the course. Such rides are ideal preparation for the increasingly popular cyclosportifs.
Most CTC riders are interested in leisure and social cycling rather than racing. If you are interested in racing you might wish to contact Exeter Wheelers, the Sid Valley Cycling Club, Exmouth's CS Dynamo, or the Mid Devon Cycling Club.
[edit] What to Bring
It's a good idea to carry a spare inner tube, a pump and a set of tyre levers. If you do have a puncture, and are unsure how to use your tools, other members of the group will help you out. If the weather looks unsettled it's wise to bring a waterproof top.
Although we stop for drinks it's a good idea to carry a bottle of water or an energy drink and some energy giving food such as a banana or a muesli bar. For the all day Sunday rides we normally carry a picnic lunch.

[edit] Thursdays - Morning Coffee Pot Rides
On Thursday mornings local riders meet at a nominated coffee stop, normally between 10:30 and 11:30. There is no organised ride as such but often riders will group up, either to ride to the coffee stop, or to return home. These meetings offer the opportunity to meet local riders with a range of abilities. The current list of coffee pot rides is available here.
