  • Note that 3,055,975 killer [sic] calories equals 12,786,199 killer jewels. That's "a lot, a very lot". It's about enough energy to climb Mt Everest, from sea level, about three hundred and forty six and a quarter times - as if you'd want to...., or the energy contained in one thousand eight hundred and thirty six gallons of beer, which is a much more reasonable challenge (that's only 5 gallons a day !!!)...

And don't forget that cycling extends your life-expectancy, so it's not just fun, it's good for you too. Stats I've seen suggest that if you ride just 30 miles a week, you could expect to live some 3 years 7 months longer. Or put another way, just 5 minutes exercise a day gives you an extra 219 days on the planet. (Does that mean if I cycled 300 miles a week I'd make 100 ????)
