Ted: My nomination for the worst road surface has to be the old A38 between Beare and Hele (nr Killerton at around NGR SS 993 015 where there is layby on the south east side of the road) south-west- bound, where the original surface dressing has lifted to form a bad ribbed pattern, and the helpful highways authority have seen fit to simply compound the problem by top dressing over the faults. In truth a long section of this road from the quad bike track at ST 001 025 is in poor condition having had the same penny-pinching treatment. It's choose your spot for the worst measurements ! <googlemap lat="50.806066" lon="-3.427548" type="map" width="500" height="300" zoom="15"> 50.806066,-3.427548 </googlemap>

Ted: One nomination for the best bit of surfacing is the B3179 at SY 032 841 where the surface has been replaced with new smoooooooth tarmac. A rarity indeed. <googlemap lat="50.648555" lon="-3.370177" type="map" width="500" height="300" zoom="15"> 50.648555,-3.370177 </googlemap>
