Ten assembled in Springy, sunny weather at Exminster, plus Arthur to send us off, before cycling back to Exmouth. We started the ride with a maintenance class – how to mend a puncture.

Our first destination was Bow Windows café in Dawlish via the estuarine route of Powderham church, Cockwood and Dawlish Warren and the bridleway over the cliffs to Dawlish.
The coffee break was very pleasant in the sun on the pavement sheltered from the wind. Alan left us to make his own way home, leaving 9 to ride up onto Little Haldon to enjoy the views before a rapid descent into Teignmouth.
We promenaded along the promenade then crossed the bridge to Shaldon to consume our sandwiches overlooking the mouth of the estuary on the warm park benches of the Ness, our appetites being stimulated by the the aroma of grilled sardines from the pub behind. We were all dazzled by the size and splendour of Richard’s banana box!
We then explored the "smugglers’" tunnel before setting off back across the bridge through Bishopsteignton and up onto Little Haldon ridge again.
Then down to Black Forest Lodge, after which Kirby’s suggestion of tea at the Orange Elephant near Kennford proved irresistible. We then backtracked over the A38 towards Exminster. Pete and a new rider, Duncan, put on a spurt during this stage enabling Pete to gain enough lead over the rest of us to finally consume his banana (un-cased !)
At Countess wear swingbridge we said our goodbyes and headed back to our various homes. An enjoyable, unseasonable, warm ride
